The War Horse’s writing seminars bring together world class journalists, authors, agents, and publishers with veterans and military family members for off-the-record Q&As. Our seminars are where the best writers of today pay it forward to the most promising writers of tomorrow.
At The War Horse, we don’t just accept difference—we support and celebrate it, and our newsroom and our community thrives on it. We want, in turn, to ensure that a wide variety of voices are present and represented in all that we do. We welcome all current and former military spouses of current service members or Post-9/11 veterans to apply for consideration, regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, income level, disability, gender identity, veteran status, or other personal characteristic. Service dogs are welcome.
The War Horse’s writing seminars are open to writers with varying degrees of experience. Published work is NOT required for acceptance.

Seminar Cost, Travel & Accommodations
The War Horse will cover the cost of travel, and provide meals and lodging.
Our seminar is a residential program designed specifically to encourage community building and bonding among the group in the off hours. We expect, in turn, that attendees will lodge overnight and not commute to and from the site.
If you select yes to receiving The War Horse email newsletter, we will add you to our email newsletter list, and Privy and MailChimp’s data privacy policies will also apply. We are currently only accepting applications from participants who will be located in the U.S during the time of the seminar.
