I will never forget the women I met in Afghanistan: a local woman’s leader, a suspected terrorist unjustly imprisoned, the Afghan girls in my photo.
About Elaine Little
Elaine Little is a writer, mother of three, and Army veteran who deployed to Cuba, Bosnia, and Afghanistan. Her short stories and essays have been published in books and journals. In 2019, her essay “Now It’s You” won first place at the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival. Recently, her works were featured in Proud to Be: Writing by American Warriors, Volume 10 and in Consequence magazine volume 14. Her play Emergency Leave was shortlisted by the Soldier’s Arts Academy and performed in London in February 2022. In 2021, her original TV pilot was a finalist for the Stowe Story Labs/Final Draft Fellowship. She works as a homeless veterans outreach coordinator at the VA Los Angeles Regional Office.
