Herbert F. Mintz II retired from the engineering department of a PBS affiliate in 2016. He was active in the labor movement for over 25 years. He participates in community media, cultural work, and city politics. He lives with his wife on the west side of San Francisco, a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean.
