Lisa Tourtelot served as a combat correspondent in the Marines from 2009 to 2014, deploying once to Afghanistan and spending a year in Okinawa with Stars and Stripes. Since leaving the military, she continues to work in military public affairs as a civilian and spends most of her free time writing historical fiction, reading, exploring her new home in New Orleans, and taking care of her small menagerie of animals.
